The Paris Coyote football team opened their season with a big win over visiting Keytesville. The Coyotes entered the season with optimism and enthusiasm.
"This is our second year as an eight-man football program, and we feel a lot better about our depth and understanding of the game. We feel like we have a pretty talented group on both sides of the ball and special teams and are excited to get our season started." Coach Cody Carney
The excitement from the players and the home crowd was in full effect early in the game. Following an early long touchdown run for the Thunder, Paris rattled off 72 unanswered points. Behind solid offensive line play, Gatlin Fountain rushed for three scores, Brad Skinner opened the scoring with a long touchdown run, Aaron McCain added two touchdowns, Sawyer Clements scored his first Varsity touchdown as did Kristian Harvey. Quarterback Luke Ensor connected with Logan Mitchell on two touchdown passes. The coyote offense put up 427 yards, while the defense held the Thunder to under 150 yards of total offense. "That was an overall great team effort. We were able to get everyone an opportunity to step on the field and contribute. I am very pleased with our attitudes and our effort. Great way to start the season."
Defensively, Fountain and Skinner had big games, Chase Kendrick had several key plays, as did Payden Crain and Dayton Rush.
The 1-0 coyotes will travel to Orrick next Friday night.
