Assault with a pocketknife by one student against another student at the Paris High School

At approximately 9:13 AM on August 29, 2025, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office was advised of an assault with a pocketknife by one student against another student at the Paris High School. While the injuries sustained were relatively minor, this was a serious incident. The juvenile suspect was taken into custody and an investigation was initiated. The suspect was turned over to juvenile authorities while the investigation is still ongoing. 

School staff and administration acted immediately and separated the juvenile from other students while notifying law enforcement. Deputies arrived shortly after, taking the subject into custody, secured the campus, and ultimately removed the subject from the school. 

Due to the fact the suspect is a juvenile, no other information will be released by our office at this time. I would like to thank the school administration and staff for their swift and professional response to this incident as well as the deputies who responded. We value our close partnerships with our schools and often work closely together to prepare for emergency situations.
